How to Build a Successful Home-Based
Video Production for Corporate Businesses
By Hal Landen
Producing videos is a passion of mine. I think you will agree that it’s too costly as a hobby. You can always find more equipment. It’s an endless cycle.
It was for this reason that I decided to let others buy my equipment. This meant that I had to produce corporate videos, which I have done for 12 years. (I’ve been in film and video for more than 20 years). Here are the FOUR THINGS THAT I LOVE About this work:
1. Variety
Since my first production of corporate videos, I have been paid to learn and produce videos about topics such as dock building, lipstick manufacture, electronic surveying and furniture sales training. I also have experience with nursing, interstate highway construction, waterfront reconstruction, book printing, food prep, and many other subjects.
My video work has taken me behind the scenes at places like Tiffany’s, Panavision International, AT&T;, the Federal Drug Enforcement Agency, and hundreds of local businesses and agencies. To list them all would require several pages. I learned new things about things I did not know.
Although most of the videos I make are located within an hour of my home, I am sometimes asked to create videos in other parts of the country. These invitations are from my clients and their refers. Thanks to my video company, I have been able to travel in style across the United States. Corporate video will appeal to those who like variety.
2. The Pay
My projects range from $5000 to as high as $25,000 and up. Of course, this isn’t all profit. But even though I hired outside freelancers to rent high, it was a good deal of profit.-End equipment is still the largest portion of the budget. MY services. I often produce multiple corporate videos simultaneously.
3. Repeat and Referral Business
This is the beginning of a long-lasting business relationship. Many of my clients retain me for updates to their videos as new products, people, and technologies emerge. My videos are so effective at helping these companies that many of my clients order 100 copies or more every few months. It’s a very good income, and you don’t need to have duplication gear in order to make a nice and easy margin on each order. Many of my clients do business internationally so they need more dubs and standards conversions. Producing one great video is all that’s required to generate additional business income.
This is one of my favorite things. I get to refer happy clients to others. It’s a great feeling, and it adds another income stream.

4. Satisfaction & Respect
Many people have seen my videos. Even in my small town, people often surprise me by asking for my videos. “YOU produced that video?” I’m always happy to tell people that I did. It’s fun for me to work with small businesses and corporations.-Profits use video in positive and I have a good reputation for doing this. Even after all these years, I still enjoy making videos that help others.
What do you like about my work? The creative aspect of the work has not been mentioned. If you think corporate videos don’t have creativity, think again. These corporate productions are often better than network TV commercials. An independent corporate producer is a better choice for creative people.
Video It can be a very expensive hobby…
Or, a Lucrative and Satisfying Business
You can do it all or part-Time is full-You can use this time for your current business or as an additional revenue stream. But remember, it is a Business. Your business may be the most intelligent. “wire head” You can be the best producer in the world, or even the most innovative, but if your business isn’t smart enough you won’t have enough money to do what you love.
I wrote it because of that. Professional Video Producer
Since the writing Digital Marketing VideoMany people have asked me for my guidance on how to run a successful video business.
Like Jerry Bullard of Burnsville, MN. Jerry Bullard, Burnsville, MN. Although we have never met, Jerry asked me to review his first video and assist him in starting his video production company. To get his feedback and to see if the course would benefit him, I sent him a draft of my book. Here is what he wrote to me on August 24, 1997.
Hal,
Since last summer I’ve been working hard to get my video production company up and running. To gain experience, I bought the Truffles tape from my own pocket. I have read the following books:
Entrepreneur’s Video Start your business-Guide Up
ITVA’s It’s both a business first and a creative outlet second
Selling to Dummies
Presentations for Dummies: A Success Story
And the series of books written and edited by Sarah Edwards and Paul Edwards.

I’ve also bought Videomakers Audio Cassette Series About the video business. Your course provided more detailed, practical information than any other that explained the inner workings and complexities of the business. My wife said it was like you were there with me in my home office, guiding me step by step.-By-step. This course is sure to be a winner.
Your course has amazing marketing and sales support. As I said, I have a meeting with SCORE tomorrow. However, the points that I was interested in discussing were already covered in your course.
Although I only had the pleasure of meeting Jerry via email, he is the type of person that will follow this course and create a great company. It’s an incredible journey! It’s true. If you’d like to reach Jerry directly, I’ll send you his email address. However, I won’t publish the information here. Jerry just told us that he won his first Telly Award!!
Be careful, though. This business is not for everyone. To succeed in any business you have to love what you do. You’re not in the right business if you don’t. It takes selflessness, too.-You must be disciplined to succeed in any endeavor.
This course is for you if you are willing to learn and work hard. It will teach you how to start slowly building a business producing corporate videos. Budgets range from $3000 to $5000, and then you can move up to five.-The range of figures.
While the course will teach you how exactly to produce five-figure incomes, and how to succeed in producing them, you don’t need to have any prior experience. Let me help get you a lot of the $3000-$5000 low.-Start with the budget jobs. You’ll then have the foundation you need to sell and produce larger budget jobs.
Before you Run, Walk
I will not promise you that you will make $100,000 per year your first year of running the business course.
